I took a break with Jenn to the Southern Drakensbergs. We stayed in Khotso, a horse ranch with 284 horses. It was idyllic. The mountains were spectacular and so beautiful. Their shape was very unique with impressive folds and vegetation.
Jenn decided to do the Sani Pass trip to SA's highest point via some hair raising dirt track roads and hairpin bends. Needless to say I opted out. I went horse riding instead on a very disobedient horse called Kola. Having expressed my fear of heights to the leader I looked forward to a gentle low level ride. We were soon climbing some fairly scary scree type slopes and headed towards a precipitous escarpment. I conquered my desire to leap off the horse and found myself at the edge of a cliff. I held my breath, manned up and took in the most stunning views.
Back to base camp and a walk down to the Hatchery to sit by a lake and waterfall and reflect on my amazing experiences in SA. This was a helpful antidote to the challenges of Durban. In the evening we met some nice travellers and invited them to Durban. A lovely German couple are very interested in the Project and want to visit the street kids.Je suis un "networker extraordinaire"...and not in the least pretentious.
Jenn decided to stay and ride over the mountains to Lesotho (show off!) and I headed back to frenetic Ethekweni.
On arrival I was phoned by Russell to say Home Affairs were cooperating over the learners Id's and Passports. We'll see.
